FAQs

ITALIC luxury slabs are high-performance engineered quartz surfaces composed of 90–94% natural quartz aggregates. As one of the hardest minerals found in nature, quartz is combined with advanced polymeric resins and light-fast pigments to deliver consistent performance and design flexibility.

Quartz is one of the hardest minerals found in nature. We combine it with advanced polymeric resins and light-fast pigments to deliver consistent performance and design flexibility.

Unlike natural stone, manufacturers produce engineered quartz under controlled conditions. This process creates uniform structure, consistent density, and predictable appearance.

The high-purity composition creates a non-porous surfacethat supports durability and hygienic performance in modern kitchens, residential interiors, and commercial design applications.

Engineered quartz offers the aesthetic appeal of natural stone with enhanced consistency, lower maintenance, and improved resistance to staining. Unlike natural stone, engineered quartz does not require sealing and provides predictable color, pattern, and performance across slabs.

ITALIC’s standard luxury quartz slabs measure 129″ x 64″ (approx. 3280 x 1630 mm). These jumbo quartz slabs are ideal for seamless waterfall islands and large-scale wall cladding with minimal joins. Our collections are available in 7mm, 2cm, and 3cm thicknesses with premium finishes, including polished, honed, and other finishes, depending on the collection, to match any high-end interior design aesthetic.

Slab Sizes, Thicknesses & Finishes:
Standard slab size: 129″ × 64″ (approx. 3280 × 1630 mm)
Thicknesses:
2 cm (20 mm), 3 cm (30 mm) industry-standard profiles to meet various design needs
7 mm /1.3 cm (ITALIC Ultralight™): Ideal for lightweight vertical applications, such as interior wall cladding and backsplashes.
Finishes: Polished with additional finishes such as honed (matte), and more, depending on the collection.

Quartz discoloration is primarily influenced by the quality of the resin and exposure conditions. ITALIC features UV Armor Technology, a proprietary resin and surface protection system designed to stabilize pigments and enhance surface durability under interior lighting conditions.

Unlike standard quartz formulations, UV Armor is engineered to enhance color stability under indirect UV exposure and intense interior lighting, thereby reducing the risk of dulling or hue changes over time.

Accelerated aging and color stability testing demonstrate minimal visual change under standard interior conditions.

Note: ITALIC quartz is intended for interior use only and should not be installed in direct, unshielded outdoor environments.

No. ITALIC engineered quartz is non-porous and does not require sealing under normal interior use.

Quartz countertops do not absorb liquids, which eliminates the need for routine sealing treatments. Unlike many natural stones, quartz surfaces maintain their structure without additional sealers when properly installed and maintained indoors.

ITALIC engineered quartz surfaces are highly resistant to scratches and stains under normal interior use. While the material is heat-resistant, it is not heat-proof; we recommend using trivets or heat pads for hot cookware to protect the resin.

To ensure long-term performance, ITALIC surfaces undergo third-party testing in accordance with international standards. This includes verified performance for:

  • Stain & Chemical Resistance: Testing against common household liquids and acids.
  • Hardness & Abrasion: High-performance scratch resistance.
  • Structural Integrity: Verified flexural strength and water absorption rates.

ITALIC engineered stone and quartz is designed for premium interior applications. These non-porous surfaces provide a durable solution for:

  • Kitchen & Bathroom: Professional-grade quartz countertops, waterfall islands, vanity tops, and full-height backsplashes.
  • Architectural Features: Interior wall cladding, decorative feature walls, and custom furniture panels.
  • Interior Flooring: High-performance quartz flooring for residential and commercial environments.
  • Hospitality & Commercial: Custom reception desks, luxury bar tops, and retail surfaces.

Note: ITALIC products are intended for interior use only and are not recommended for direct flame contact or unapproved outdoor UV exposure.

ITALIC offers warranty details tailored to the application environment:

  • Residential Warranty: Interior residential applications are covered by a limited warranty for use under normal conditions.
  • Commercial Warranty: Commercial applications are protected by a limited commercial warranty specific to high-traffic environments.

For regular care and cleaning of ITALIC engineered quartz, we recommend using simple, non-harsh solutions to help maintain the surface finish.

Daily Cleaning:
Use warm water and a mild dish soap with a soft cloth.

Approved Cleaners:
Use non-abrasive household cleaners formulated for stone surfaces as needed.

What to Avoid:
To prevent surface damage, avoid abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, and strong acids or alkalis (such as bleach or oven cleaners).

Final Step:
Always rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water after applying any cleaning agent.

Minimum radius and reinforcement practices should be followed when fabricating sink and cooktop openings in engineered quartz.

Cutouts, Radius & Reinforcement Guidelines:

  • Minimum inside corner radius for cutouts: 3/8″ (10 mm)
  • Recommended inside corner radius: 1/2″ (12 mm)
  • Avoid sharp internal corners in sink and cooktop openings
  • Reinforcement, such as rodding or approved underlayment is recommended around sinks and cooktops, particularly with thinner materials

Fabrication & Handling Guidelines for 7 mm Quartz Slabs

ITALIC Ultralight™ 7 mm quartz slabs are engineered for reduced weight applications, surface continuity, and vertical installations.

Due to the reduced thickness, fabrication and installation practices should account for the following:

  • Store and transport slabs vertically with full, even support.
  • Maintain continuous substrate support for horizontal applications.
  • Reinforcement or approved backing materials may be required depending on span and load conditions.
  • Avoid unsupported overhangs or load-bearing applications without proper support design.
  • Large-format, specialty, or commercial installations may require engineering review.

Installation parameters should be determined based on substrate construction and support design.

Overhang, Support Spacing & Maximum Span Guidelines for Quartz Countertops, Islands & Bar Tops

Support requirements for quartz countertops depend on slab thickness, edge build-up, and cabinet construction.

  • Extended overhangs generally require brackets, corbels, or legs.
  • Thinner materials require continuous support or an approved underlayment.
  • Support spacing and maximum span limits vary based on slab thickness and project conditions.
  • Engineering review is recommended for large spans or commercial applications.

Proper slab handling and storage are essential to help prevent warping, stress fractures, or breakage during fabrication.

Handling, Storage & Acclimation Guidelines:

  • Store slabs indoors in a dry, temperature-stable environment.
  • Store slabs vertically on A-frames with even support and appropriate padding.
  • Avoid direct sunlight, standing water, and extreme temperature fluctuations.
  • Allow slabs to acclimate in the fabrication environment for 24–48 hours prior to cutting.
  • Use appropriate lifting equipment and established handling procedures.

Following recommended storage and acclimation practices helps maintain slab stability prior to cutting, machining, and installation.

Blades, Tooling & Fabrication Guidelines:

  • Use high-quality diamond blades and tooling engineered for cutting quartz slabs.
  • Maintain adequate water flow during cutting operations.
  • Set RPM and feed rates appropriate to the equipment and slab thickness.
  • Adjust the tooling configuration and machine parameters according to the fabrication setup.

Adhesives, Seams & Lamination:

  • Use high-quality two-part polyester or epoxy seam adhesives, color-matched to the slab.
  • Structural epoxy is recommended for miters and laminations.
  • Approved backing or underlayment materials may be required, depending on the application.
